White Center Food Bank End-of-Year Appeal 2024

2024, a year like no other for White Center Food Bank. We opened our doors in January: A new space, a new beginning for our organization. This building means easy access for customers as we are right on Metro’s H Line, a bright and open layout to shop for food, and a beautiful community gathering space.

We predicted that our central location would mean more families could easily find us. We did not foresee 40% more customer visits over 2023, many days doubling the amount we saw last year. More and more, families are relying on our food bank for the culturally familiar produce and high-quality food we distribute.

Even so, it is inspiring to see over 250 families each day comfortably shop, greeted with love in their home language, in a dignified space that our community deserves. Customers enter a welcoming lobby, instead of waiting outside in the elements. Deliveries can easily be wheeled into our state-of the art refrigeration and freezer units. Our warehouse efficiently moves through thousands of pounds of food for customers daily.
